VAR-SOM-MX6 Yocto NAND Recovery V60plus

Variscite provides a recovery SD card image that can be used to install the pre-built U-Boot, Linux kernel and the file system into the internal storage/s of the SOM.

Preparing a recovery SD card

$ gunzip mx6-som-recovery-sd.vXX.img.gz
$ sudo umount /dev/sdX*
$ sudo dd if=mx6-som-recovery-sd.vXX.img of=/dev/sdX bs=1M

(Replace /dev/sdX with your actual device)

Recover NAND Flash/eMMC

  • Power-off the board.
  • Insert the SD card into the SD card slot of the carrier board (DVK)
  • Press and hold the boot-select button, and power-on the board while button is pressed
  • The board will automatically boot into Linux from SD card

  • Yocto Jethro MX6CB Cap NAND: Flash Yocto with Capacitive touch panel support on NAND flash, on VAR-MX66CUSTOMBOARD
  • Yocto Jethro MX6CB Res eMMC: Flash Yocto with Resistive touch panel support on eMMC, on VAR-MX66CUSTOMBOARD
  • Yocto Jethro MX6CB Cap eMMC: Flash Yocto with Capacitive touch panel support on eMMC, on VAR-MX66CUSTOMBOARD.
  • Yocto Jethro DART (eMMC): Flash Yocto on eMMC, on DART-BOARD
  • Android SOLOCustomBoard eMMC: Flash Yocto on eMMC, on VAR-SOLOCUSTOMBOARD
  • Android MX6CB Cap: Flash Yocto with Capacitive touch panel support on eMMC, on VAR-MX66CUSTOMBOARD
  • Android MX6CB Res: Flash Yocto with Resistive touch panel support on eMMC, on VAR-MX66CUSTOMBOARD
  • Android DART: Flash Yocto on eMMC, on DART-BOARD

Flash from command line

  • Login as root (no password)
  • From Linux command line, type one of flash options
$ install_android.sh	- Flash Android into eMMC (Follow instructions)
$ install_yocto.sh	- Flash Yocto into eMMC or NAND Flash (Follow instructions)
